Early February Updates from ERTL Farm Toys

Greetings from Dyersville!

Happy 2023! I hope everyone is doing well so far. We’ve been busy these last few months. In December we attended the John Deere Parts Expo in Houston, TX. At the show we announced our next Prestige Select unit which is the 1:16th John Deere 8850 Tractor (Stock # 45855OTP). When this tractor was introduced in 1982 it was the largest tractor in John Deere’s lineup, boasting 300 PTO horsepower from a John Deere 955 cubic inch, V8 engine. That 300 PTO horsepower translated into roughly 270 horsepower at the drawbar. That brute power will also translate into our replica. Our mainly die-cast model will feature an opening hood, articulating die-cast body and a die-cast cab with an opening door. It will also feature a rear 3-point hitch. John Deere dealers can start ordering this unit on February 27th. If we don’t get enough orders we won’t go forward with this project. As with all of these Prestige Select units we will destroy the tooling after production is complete. I will keep you updated on its progress in future blogs.

We’ve also been busy on our next Precision Heritage model. Keep watching for more details.

Since my last blog we’ve introduced our new 2023 Case IH and New Holland catalogs. These catalogs typically showcase our existing and new items scheduled for the first half of the year. Our Case IH catalog varies slightly from this with the introduction of our special “Farmall 100th Anniversary” items that will be shipping throughout the entire year of 2023. The first Farmall Regular was introduced in 1923, with the last IH series to use the Farmall name ,the “66” series, introduced in 1972. When the “66” series tractors were updated with the Black Stripe paint scheme in 1975, the Farmall name disappeared for the most part. The Farmall brand is still being used today by Case IH with their smaller horsepower tractors. Our current Case IH Farmall 115A with loader (Stock # 44254) is a prime example of these. Case IH brought back the Farmall name in 2004 when they introduced 14 tractors ranging from 18-55 engine horsepower. The current Farmall range includes over twenty different models going all the way up to 140 HP.

We have six items in particular that are celebrating this unique anniversary. First is a six-piece 1:64th set featuring historical tractors (Stock # 44301OTP). These include the F-20, M, 560, 806, 1466 and of course the Farmall 100 that definitely ties into the 100th anniversary. We’ll also have some randomly inserted gold metallic chase units included in the production run. Next up are the four 1:16th scale tractors that highlight some of the better vintage Farmall models. The Farmall F-20 will ship first (Stock # 44303OTP), followed by the Farmall “M” (Stock # 44304OTP), then the Farmall 806 (Stock # 44305OTP) and the Farmall 1066 (Stock # 44306OTP). These units will be attached to bases with a special display box and collector inserts. They will also have both red chrome and gold chrome chase units randomly inserted into the production runs.

We have not produced a 1:16th replica of a Farmall F-20 for over 10 years. This unit will feature a narrow front axle, die-cast rear rims and a die-cast body. The Farmall “M” will feature a narrow front axle, die-cast rims, and authentic rear drawbar. The Farmall 806 is also celebrating its own 60th anniversary as these tractors were introduced in 1963. We’ve picked an early 806 with clamshell fenders, 3-point hitch and headlights mounted on the body. This unit also has a wide front axle. The Farmall 1066 features a wide front axle, with fenders, die- cast wheels and 3-point hitch.

Lastly, we are also bringing out a special limited edition Farmall C “White Demonstrator” pedal tractor (Stock # 44214OTP). The Farmall “C” was introduced in 1948 as a replacement for the “A” and “B” tractors. 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the “C” tractor. To celebrate both of these anniversaries our pedal tractor will feature the special “White Demonstrator” graphics and paint scheme, including the gold stars that highlight the features of the real tractor. This pedal tractor will also feature a die-cast seat and steering wheel, along with steel front and rear rims. This will be a limited one time production run.

Stay tuned for my next blog, and keep checking our social media on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok. You can also see all of our catalogs and flyer on our website, as well as my unboxing videos.

Until next time,

Bill
